Thank you for applying to Artpace’s Travel Grant application. In an effort to foster the growth and vision of an artist’s career and encourage an ongoing dialogue between local and international art communities, Artpace San Antonio is pleased to announce a call for Travel Grant applications.

Please note that this Travel Grant opportunity is only available to working artists who are residents of Bexar County. Applicants from other states/counties will not be considered. Artpace employees and students are not eligible to apply.

Artpace is an international laboratory for the creation and advancement of contemporary art, and believes that art is a dynamic social force that inspires individuals and defines cultures. Innovative projects produced at Artpace are as likely to employ video, film, found objects, performance, and light, as they are paint, stone, and metal. Applicants whose work reflects this mission are encouraged to apply.

There may be more than one grant recipient per year; however, the total amount dispersed will not exceed $5,000. The award will assist an artist with travel related to his or her creative growth. Proposals may include research or project- specific travel to visit an exhibition, collection, institution, or geographic location. The award will not support shipping and handling of artwork.

Proposals should include:
Proposed destination
Proposed travel dates between June 2011 and May 2012
Estimated budget, including amount requested as well as other sources

CV should include artist’s exhibition history.

If applicable, submit an institutional letter of invitation if artist is requesting funds where authorized access/acceptance is necessary.

All applications will be stored electronically in a folder on your computer named ArtpaceTravelGrant_2011. Do not drag files, images, or other application materials directly into this folder. All application changes should be made through this program only (Texas application icon). You may continue to edit the contents of your application until you press the Deliver button. Applications will not be submitted until you have clicked the Deliver button.

To ensure prompt receipt of your application, press the Deliver button by 5:00 PM on April 29, 2011. Late applications will not be accepted. You will receive a confirmation number by email once your application is processed.
