Excuse me while I kiss the Cy

The BBC reports that a French woman decided to kiss a Cy Twombly painting in Avignon, leaving a lipstick stain on the $2 million work.
“I left a kiss,” she told La Provence newspaper on leaving the police station.
“A red stain remained on the canvas… This red stain is testimony to this moment, to the power of art.”
Speaking to French news agency AFP, she said the artist had “left this white” for her.
Somehow, I doubt that this is quite what Twombly had in mind…

sheesh, talk about megalomania…why do women do this anyway, I saw it a lot in San Francisco bath rooms, [most repulsively on the shower curtain/entrance to the toilet at Mustang Sally's!] truly disgusting habits of drunks. SMACK!! Why didn’t she just put her butthole on the painting, same thing!
Maybe museums/galleries need a new clause in the insurance policy, you kiss it, you buy it~!
foamers..ha
Michelle, learn about art… THEN leave a coment, okay? For instance, in Byzantine art it was commonplace to kiss iconographic artwork as a form of religious worship and respect. So think about it, if you were so moved by a peice of work as to kiss it upon appreciating its total value, then why not. It is a testament to the works artistic power, Cy Twombly moved the woman so much to do this act, respect it… and besides, i think it’s nice little touch to work. And one more thing while I’m ranting: This will go down in history as a powerful testament to the power of contemporary artwork in a world that is slowly becoming less appreciative of art.
If anything, I think the lips improve the painting.
i would just like to take this moment to encourage those who think they know nothing about art to comment just as much as those of us who think we know something about art.
I think this photo is a mock-up.. ben?
Note: This is an artist’s rendering of what a Cy Twombly painting might look like if someone photoshopped a lipstick stain on it that they found on Google Images at 2 am.
it is to laugh!
hahahaha.

Billy, even though your really trying hard to sound intelligent, you spelled comment wrong in you post to Michelle. You really should spell check before you go insulting people.
