I just discovered another incredible niche blog, strange maps. Here you’ll find everything from a map tattoo, to a map of New Jersey constructed using only Bruce Springsteen lyrics, to a speculative historical map of Australia. I’m also grateful to strange maps for turning me onto Cartographismes, a French blog dedicated to reproducing the lovely and intriguing imaginary cartographies of its author.
this is cartographerrific!

Hi! I stumbled upon strangemaps.wordpress.com a few months ago, and yes, I agree it’s a really interesting, unique and spectacular blog. However, the title of this post is, maybe, somewhat misleading. “Cartofilia” isn’t a recognizeable word in english (I mean in doesn’t seem to appear in dictionaries) but in spanish it refers to postcard collecting (and that’s how I ended up here). The word for postcard collecting is also similar in french: “cartophilie” (however the word for this hobby in english is “deltiology”). As far as I know, map collecting has just been called “map collecting”. Just a commentary :)
