Steve Brudniak: Noumenon, and Other New Works
Blue Star Contemporary Art Center
Opens Thursday, July 1, 6-8 pm
Through July 31. (210) 227-6960
Blue Star Contemporary Art Center unleashes Steve Brudniak’s exhibition Noumenon, and Other New Work. The assemblages of found objects look a lot like machines or ritual objects and contain 3-D images, inorganic “specimens” in fluid and fiber optic projections. This new body of work reflects upon Noumenon, the emptiness from which all things emerge. Don’t miss the photos of Brudniak’s Astrogeneris Mementos, which were launched into orbit and exhibited on the International Space Station for the first art exhibition in outer space! |

Jeremiah Teutsch: A Most Horrible Room
Three Walls
Opens Thursday, July 1, 6-8 pm & First Friday Reception, Friday, July 2, 6-9 pm
Through July 29. (210) 733-8622
Inspired by Ernest Hemmingway’s A Clean Well-Lighted Place and a conversation with Dave Hickey (who used to have a gallery in Austin called A Clean Well-Lighted Place), Jeremiah Teutsch presents the exhibition A Most Horrible Room at Three Walls. “I wanted to make something which would be the complete opposite of that title, while retaining the same tone,” Teutsch states. Using a list of what he thinks are the most irritating sensations, he has created a room that challenges the audience in awful and horrible ways. Teutsch believes his show “should irritate people enough to want to exit the room almost as soon as they enter it.” |
